West Chicago, IL – Older adults, caregivers and their advocates from DuPage and Kane Counties are invited to the first of four Advocacy Breakfast Collaboratives hosted by the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois on Friday, February 8 at Tabor Hills Supportive Living Community Semerad Pavilion (1327 Crystal Ave, Naperville). Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the program will run from 9 AM – 11:30 AM. The Advocacy Breakfast Collaborative will discuss federal, state and local issues concerning the aging population. The purpose of the Advocacy Breakfast Collaborative is for older adults, caregivers and their advocates to meet federal, state and local legislators and voice their opinions on issues affecting these groups. It will include discussions on the state initiative to combat social isolation, dementia friendly communities, and other topics that are important to older adults. Community providers of services for seniors will give brief presentations about the value of home- and community-based services that positively impact the quality of life of seniors, people with disabilities, and caregivers. Legislators may raise other issues, and the program will conclude with a question-and-answer session if time allows.
State Representatives and Senators who represent DuPage and Kane Counties have been invited to attend the Collaborative. Tabor Hills Supportive Living Community, Illinois Continuity of Care and AARP are the sponsors of this event.
